NYU Law School Family Defense Clinic: Elie Hirschfeld Funding Supports New Study Published In Children And Youth Services Review
Elie Hirschfeld, a long-time supporter of children’s rights and a notable donor to NYU Law School (his alma mater), notes that recent findings published in Children And Youth Services Review will advocate social justice for children.
The major new study, which has broad implications for child welfare practices, was conducted by New York University School of Law Family Defense Clinic and Action Research. The study showed that using a new kind of legal representation greatly reduces the time children spend in foster care. This was accomplished with no change in child safety outcomes.
Many children are kept in foster care because parents are not provided with this kind of legal representation.
Elie Hirschfeld’s donations to the NYU Law School Family Defense contributed to this work. He continues to advocate for family law and children’s welfare.
