New Brown University Faculty Appointed to the Hirschfeld Presidential Fellowship in Comparative Studies
Brown University has announced that the Hirschfeld Presidential Fellowship in Comparative Studies is to be held by new appointee Katharina Galor.
Katharina Galor, Hirschfeld senior lecturer in Judaic Studies, is an art historian and archaeologist specializing in the visual and material culture of Israel-Palestine. She completed her studies in art history and archaeology at the Diplôme d’Études Approfondi from the Université d’Aix-Marseille in France and received her PhD in old world art and archaeology from Brown University. In addition to Brown, she has also taught at the Hebrew University and Ecole Biblique et Archéologique Française in Jerusalem; at Humboldt University in Berlin; and at Tufts University and the Rhode Island School of Design.
Katharina Galor’s publications include “The Archaeology of Jerusalem: From the Origins to the Ottomans” (co-authored with Hanswulf Bloedhorn, Yale University Press, 2013), “Finding Jerusalem: Archaeology Between Science and Ideology” (University of California Press, 2017), and “The Moral Triangle: Germans, Israelis, Palestinians” (co-authored with Sa’ed Atshan, Duke University Press, 2020), which was translated into German.
