Elie Hirschfeld is the real deal when it comes to his dedication to philanthropy, which he views as the voluntary promotion of human welfare. Mr. Hirschfeld deeply values giving back to the community, and contributing to enhance, promote and grow organizations that make a positive impact on individuals and larger communities he is aligned with.
Elie Hirschfeld has identified four key areas where his foundation is focused on providing ongoing support and philanthropic giving: education, healthcare, Jewish causes, and athletics.
With numerous significant donations to his alma mater Brown University, as well as ongoing support and involvement at New York University, where he earned his law degree, Elie Hirschfeld has established his commitment to the education of the next generation. Elie believes in the transformative, positive power that education brings to individuals as well as society. His Hirschfeld Foundation supports a number of schools and universities attended by Elie Hirschfeld’s four children.
Elieinitiated his philanthropic efforts in the healthcare arena following the birth of his first two children at Roosevelt Hospital, now called Mt. Sinai West, in his beloved New York City. Today, the Hirschfeld Foundation supports several hospitals that have partnered with Roosevelt, including St. Luke’s and Beth Israel. Elie Hirschfeld currently serves on the Board of Overseers for all of these healthcare institutions.
With ongoing support to Elie’s home synagogue in New York City, as well as City of Beitar in Israel and the Jewish National Fund in the US, the Hirschfeld Foundation’s support of Jewish causes has long been established. And the foundation takes a special pride in supporting the Weizmann Institute, an Israel-based organization that is a leading international driver in forwarding health research, scientific advancement, and education that is reshaping and improving the future in these critical areas.
Athletics are a longtime passion of Elie Hirschfeld, an avid runner and dedicated triathlete for all of this life. He participates in a variety of sports and athletic events both competitively and socially. Elie believes athletics offer a meaningful sense of purpose, give everyone the opportunity to pursue their personal best, and train participants to meet challenges with energy and stamina. The Elie Hirschfeld Foundation supports a variety of organizations related to Elie’s athletic interests, including the Central Park Conservancy, SwimFree.org, and the New York Road Runners Club.
Elie also frequently accepts leadership roles in organizations supported by the Hirschfeld Foundation. As a board member or trustee, he appreciates the opportunity to offer his skills and talents, as well as the network of friends and professional connections related to his career as a successful real estate developer and businessman.
