Elie Hirschfeld’s passion for athletics — he’s run numerous triathlons, and is currently training for his 35thMighty Hamptons race, is equaled by his dedication to philanthropy. Children’s rights and social justice, education, and Jewish causes have consistently received substantial funding over the years, and he likes to make generous donations to commemorate the races and athletic events in which he participates.

The Steve Tarpinian Memorial Fund was created in honor of athlete, author, and entrepreneur Steve Tarpinian, who was a good friend of Elie Hirschfeld. Steve was instrumental in creating the Mighty Hamptons race, which Elie runs every year. Elie notes that Steve “created this race and nurtured it into the most important Triathlon event in the region. He also created important programs for young children and people with disabilities to get involved in the sport of triathlon.” Elie gives a significant contribution to this fund every year when he runs the Mighty Hamptons. He’s currently training for his 35thconsecutive event.

The Southampton Hospital is another supporter of the race, and Elie donates to this organization consistently, as well as the Southampton College. Elie served as a trustee for many years for the Long Island University which includes campuses at Brooklyn College and CW Post College, and included Southampton College during his tenure. So he has been and remains very connected to the area and it’s organizations.
