Elie Hirschfeld’s recent donation of a New York-themed art collection will go on view in preview form at the New York Historical Society beginning February 12. The full collection is expected to go on display in the Fall.

The Scenes of New York City collection is comprised of 130 works by significant American artists and movements associated with New York City, and dating from the 19th through 21st Centuries. Featured artists include Keith Haring, Edward Hopper, Stuart Davis, Willem de Kooning, Sol LeWitt, Louise Nevelson, Georgia O’Keeffe, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, and more.

“As we get closer to Scenes of New York City opening at New-York Historical in the fall, Sarah and I are delighted to present these first works to the general public,” said Elie Hirschfeld. “These paintings in particular provide a unique glimpse of life in New York City in the late 19th and early 20th century that New Yorkers will still recognize.”
